Executive Director

The Executive Director is the key management leader of Souls Harbor and is responsible for overseeing the administration and implementation of programs, driving development, managing donor relationships, and executing the marketing and strategic plan of the organization. This position reports directly to the Board of Directors.



  • Works closely with the Board of Directors and Board Committees in order to fulfill the mission of Souls Harbor.

  • Provides timely and accurate information across all areas of responsibility to the Board of Directors to enable it to function properly and make informed decisions.


Operations and Finance

  • Implements and oversees appropriate resources to ensure the efficient operation and financial health of Souls Harbor.

  • Hires, develops and retains qualified staff and/or contractors to meet operational and program needs.

  • Ensures organizational and programmatic regulatory compliance.

  • Partners with the Board of Directors Finance Committee to prepare and propose a data driven annual budget to the Board of Directors.

  • Operates within the Board approved budget and maximizes resource utilization.

  • Models fiscal integrity and management through delivery of accurate monthly financial statements, provides related insights and proactively recommends solutions (revenue and/or expense adjustments, leveraging volunteers, etc.) to address budget variances.


Mission and Strategy

  • Implements, monitors and improves programs that carry out Souls Harbor’s mission and the strategic plan of the organization.

  • Leads the Strategic Planning Process, integrates strategies and goals into workplans, monitors progress and provides regular reporting to the Board of Directors.


Development, Marketing and Community Awareness

  • Develops and executes data driven and targeted fundraising efforts (major gifts, planned giving, annual fund, grants, recurring donations, in-kind, etc.) across individuals, businesses, foundations, civic and faith-based organizations.

  • Leads volunteer engagement and recognition programs to involve the community in the mission of Souls Harbor.

  • Identifies and pursues grants that align with and support the mission of Souls Harbor and growth of existing programs.

  • Increases community awareness by expanding community, government and business relationships through targeted messaging and presentations to key audiences that align with Souls Harbor’s mission.

  • Works with staff and the Donor and Volunteer Engagement Committee to develop and implement a data driven overarching annual marketing plan for all programs that leverages appropriate marketing channels.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.

  • 1 to 2 years of management experience OR a minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in the non-profit sector.

  • Demonstrated success at building and managing relationships with stakeholders including but not limited to donors, volunteers, community and others.

  • 1 to 2 years of development and fundraising experience.

  • Public speaking experience. o Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff.

  • Passionate about the mission and vision of the organization.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a related field.

  • Experience in the grant writing process.

  • Experience working with a Board of Directors.

  • Experience in working with underserved populations and addiction programs.
